Charmed Magic by Raine Delight
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
A native Western New Yorker, Raine Delight has always loved to read and making friends with the books she read over and over again. Finding the sensual and spicy side of romance opened new doors to many different authors and this author found herself imagining different scenes and characters. Taking a chance one day, an author was born and soon the Holiday Series came to light! Join Raine as she introduces you all to the hunky men in her imagination as well as the women who go toe to toe with them!
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Welcome to Devon Falls, where the residents of this sleepy little town have been thrown in Magic's radar. With two couples already under the spell of love, one magic Fabrage Egg will capture the heart of a lonely woman and deliver her heart's desire...in the form of a sensual fae, willing to give her whatever she desires.
Hailey has to trust Tynan with all her heart or all will be lost because Tynan is a fae prince where it is frowned upon to fall in love with a human. He is going to have to break all the rules to have his hearts desire, because for Tynan, being without the one woman who gives him such pleasure and love is like being without air.
Will the love of these two unlikely of people be able to fight for the love that has grown between them? Will Hailey walk away from the differneces that engulf them, leaving behind a shattered heart and a broken man?
Hailey sat with her hands fisted in her shirttails so she wouldn’t throttle her well-meaning yet clueless aunt Tabby. She listened as another hiss from the smoking cauldron on the stove erupted and the smell was making her stomach curdle. Sighing, she turned to see her beloved aunt Tabby muttering to herself and gathering the necessary ingredients from various places in the ancient farmhouse for the love spell.
Clearing her throat, Hailey mustered enough courage to ask, “Is this thing supposed to be turning black and smelling like rotten eggs?”
”Oh my, yes dearie.” Aunt Tabby said as she bustled around the kitchen. Hailey tried not to cringe when Tabby walked to close to a knife sitting on the edge of the table. Hailey blew out a deep breath and tried to keep calm as she watched her aunt stir something that looked suspiciously like toad legs in the cauldron. “Yuck,” thought Hailey, “I swear some days it was almost too much to bear with Tabby’s new found interest in new age-isms and trying to do spells that do everything but what they are supposed to.” Hailey looked at the clock and sighed knowing she wasn’t going to get on the road back to Devon Falls any sooner than when her aunt deemed it worthy.
Hailey tried not to sound dejected but after the disastrous Valentine bachelor auction when she lost out on that prime specimen of a man to her heated rival, Raven DeMarco, she felt lost on the planes of life. With each day going by, it was almost too much to bear as she watched friends and family fall in love with their true loves. This was the extreme to her thinking but her aunt was determined to get the sparkle back in her eyes, or so she said the first night she was here. It was enough to make Hailey cringe in horror but she couldn’t say anything mean to the one person who loved her more than anything. Flipping her hair off her face, she breathed a sigh of relief as she watched her aunt finish whatever she was doing to the brew until Tabby turned around with a bottle of the foul smelling stuff.
“Here you go dear. All finished and ready to be imbibed by you! All you need to do is say three times: “I wish for my true love to find me” and then within 7 days, according to the spell book I got from a used book store, your true love will find you and steal your heart away.” Aunt Tabby said as she gazed fondly at Hailey, who was trying to look happy but failing to hide the sadness in her eyes.
Hailey took the bottle and peered at it grimacing. It was blackish-blue in >color, with something that looked like lightening bugs shining in it, winking here and there. For a moment it was like watching a kaleidoscope of colors, it was enough to make her dizzy. Uncorking the bottle, Hailey tried to shield her expression from Tabby but a shudder ran thru her as she again thought of the men who got away or chose someone else and firmed her resolve to find a love of her own. A pleasant licorice scent wafted from the brew and though Hailey was skeptical, she had to admit it smelled better than it looked. Muttering, “Lets hope it tastes as pleasant as it smells or I am going to throw up chunks,” Hailey leaned back and gulped the liquid. As she finished the last drop, she put down the bottle and recited the words her aunt told her to say:
“I wish for my true love.”
“I wish for my true love.”
“I wish for my true love.”
Hailey turned to the window then and prayed this one drink didn’t make her sick when she caught a glimpse of a face looking at her. It was enough to cause her to gasp quietly and take a step back. Those moss green eyes seemed to call to her, longing for something and it was enough for Hailey to wonder if she was loosing her mind. She looked away thinking it was a figment of her imagination but the face still stared at her; those chiseled cheeks, full, round lips that made her long to feel them over her own and those cheekbones would give a model envy. Hailey felt her body sit up and take notice and her panties got moist with her racing desire. Soon the face faded, though it felt like time stopped and only Hailey could see what was there. Shaking her head, she said, “It was nothing. Just a figment of your imagination or a trick with the light; he isn’t real at all.” But, why does my heart and mind tell me otherwise? Is he “The One” I been searching for? Hailey wondered as she got ready to leave for home.
Why did you become a writer? Was it a dream of yours since you were younger or did the desire to write happen later in your life?
I am a reader. I have over 300 books in my collection and counting. :) It just happened one day that I read a book that I just could not get into and when I started thinking I can do better POOF! the door opened and characters came out in droves. :)
What do you love about being an author? Is there anything you dislike?
That I can make people long for the places I write and want to be there. :) I have had a few comments on my Devon Falls Series and where it is excatly. lol
Dislike? I hate editing though I can say in all honestly, my editors have been fabulous!!! They help me learn my craft and help ease the stress of editing.
How do you balance your personal and writing time?
I write during the week when my kids are in school (when it is in session) and in afternoons after work during the summer. Evenings and weekends are geared toward family. I try to balance the two so I can have a chance to recharge and relax like other people, though I can not stop the characters yammering in my head. :)
How do you write? Do your characters come to you first or the plot or the world of the story?
I sit in front of a blank word doc and start writing. Sometimes I have a particular theme I play with. Other times I am letting characters talk to me. They guide me, I can't outline anything as I end up tossing it afterwards. :)
What genre(s) do you write? Why do you write the stories that you write?
Right now I am in paranormal/fantasy/shapeshifters in a contemporary setting. I am playing in my head a futuristic one and I am in the middle of finishing a Fae book full of fantasy characters.
Do you tend to base your characters on real people or are they totally from your imagination?
Sometimes I do. In Red Hot Magic, Raven is based somewhat personality wise on my friend Skylar Sinclair. Jenna in Sticky M agic (Coming Winter 2007 MGP) is all me. But the other characters in Fiery Magic, Charmed Magic and Haunting magic have some aspects of my personality in some ways. But basically they are from my imagination.
Out of all the characters that you've written, who is your favorite and why?
All my characters are but right now, Jax and Rodrick from Haunting Magic is crackingme up. Two very independant people yet they are about to find out that love hits the unlikelest of people.
What would you want readers to take away from your books?
That romance and love go hand in hand with sex. To be captivatd by the characters and find that HEA is possible in these tense times.
Do you have any advice for beginning writers in regards to writing a book?
Learn, listen and always work at it. The more you write the better you get.
What are you reading right now?
It is a few differnt books. lol I am reading Bertrice Small's Hetra Series, then onto Skylar Sinclair's books then otyers if the mood takes me.
If you could be anyone or anything that you wanted, who or what would you be?
Easy.....Johnny Depp's personal Assistant. lol I can bask in his prescense and be in awe aas he creates movies that draw a person in and deliver heart stopping moments. Oh and he is definitly easy on the eyes. LOL
"Ms. Delight has won me over with this wonderful Fairy tale. I think anyone would want to be Hailey as you read this fabulous story. It is spell binding and I could not put it down. It is easy to understand and is well written. Tynan is every woman's fantasy. The connection they have is so passionate you almost want to jump into the pages. I think it was outstanding."
